Design Thinking Days

| A special program for community engagement and education

When I was part of the team at Domain7, I helped conceive of, strategize and co-facilitate our cornerstone community education series, "Design Thinking Day." These events were day-long, immersive, practice-driven dives into the methodology of design thinking, centered around real-world design challenges as well as fictional design-scenarios. These events were held in Vancouver and in London, in yoga studios and design spaces, and attracted clients and partners from diverse industries. Co-facilitators included the fabulous Charlotte Taverner-Whelpton, the incomparable Stanley Lai, and the superb Tim Booker.

In addition to being responsible for the pedagogy and lead facilitation, I also collaborated on promotional materials, video creation, photographer collaboration, microsite development, messaging, email outreach and more.

The Design Thinking Days series ran in 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2021, with participants attending from the industries of technology, not-for-profit leadership, government, civic engagement and more. Each day included real-world collaboration, including field trips, street interviews, prototype development, testing and end-of-day pitches. It was also available as an in-company program, where we brought design thinking training in-house to teams such as BC Assessment, United Way of BC, the University of British Columbia, First West Credit Union, and more.

"Great content. Fantastic facilitator. 5 gold star experience!"
